Fall Leaves Fall~ Leaf Picture Fun!

One of the children's most memorable experiences this fall was when we went on a nature walk in the woods behind our school. They each had their own paper bag and they collected leaves, acorns, and other natural items. I invited the children to add their items to the sensory table.

During story time we read the book Fall Leaves Fall by Zoe Hall, and followed up with a story response activity in our small groups.

The children all choose several of the leaves they had found, they glued them to a piece of construction paper, and then drew embellishments in order to create leaf people, animals, or in some cases "leaf creatures".

They enjoyed coming up with different ideas for their leaf pictures.

Another great book to use to enhance these activities is Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert.
